Mantle privacy notice

Mantle is a personal task system run by one person, for one household, on their own computer. It is not a service offered to the public. This page says, in plain words, what it keeps, where, and who can see it.

What it keeps

• Your tasks and notes: what you capture, how it's sorted, dates, notes, and a history of every change.
• Suggestions from assistants, and how you answered them.
• Calendar events for the coming three weeks, read from the calendars the app is allowed to see, so it can show your day and spot clashes.
• Forwarded emails: only messages sent or forwarded to the app's own mailbox. It keeps each one's sender, subject, date, full text and attachment names (not the attachments themselves).
• Original records imported from the earlier version of this system.
• When you last opened the app, so it can say "welcome back" after a break.
• Household ledger entries the owner approves (a date, a short note and an amount), written to the family's own spreadsheets.

Where it's kept

• On the owner's own computer, in one folder: a database file, the original records and email text, and daily backup copies (the newest 14).
• If the owner turns it on: a backup copy in the owner's own Google Drive.
• It is not kept on any server run by someone else, and it is never sold or shared.

Who can see it

• The owner, on their computer and on their own phone. The phone reaches the computer over a private network that only the owner's devices can join. The app itself has no public web address; only this notice and a short home page are public.
• AI assistants the owner uses (Claude, and ChatGPT only when the owner copies something into it). When the app asks Claude to sort a new item or suggest a next step, the text of the items involved is sent to Anthropic under the owner's own account, and handled under Anthropic's terms for that account. That account is set so its conversations are not used to train models.
• Nobody else.

Google data

The app signs in to one Google account with these permissions, and uses them only to show and organise the owner's own tasks:

• Calendar events: to show the day and notice clashes. It may add events only to calendars the app's own account owns (such as a routines calendar), never to anyone else's.
• Gmail, read-only: to turn forwarded messages into tasks. It does not send, delete or change email.
• Drive, only files the app creates itself: its backups and a shared sheet for notes to and from ChatGPT. It can't see anything else in Drive.
• Sheets: to record entries in a short, fixed list of household spreadsheets (the children's allowance ledgers): only a date, a note and an amount, and only after the owner accepts the entry. No other spreadsheet is ever changed.

Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google data is not used for advertising, not sold, not used to train AI models, and not shown to anyone other than the owner.

Keeping and deleting

• Everything stays until the owner deletes it. Deleting the app's data folder removes it all from the computer; backups in Drive can be deleted there.
• Google access can be withdrawn at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
